Our Farm Journey

Jason’s Story

Jason spent his childhood years hanging out on the rough streets of St. Louis, MO, and later finding solace in the Ozark Mountains. After nearly becoming a Buddhist monk at 19 he discovered permaculture and went to college for ecological design. For the last twenty years, Jason has been professionally immersed in the regenerative design world with a focus on ecological education and agricultural systems design. He is the Director of the Permaculture Institute Inc. and founded design consultancy Real Earth Design in 2008 where he continues to help land and people systems all over the country.

Sarah’s Story

Sarah grew up in the Adirondacks fostering a deep connection to the natural world. After graduating high school she started an organization focused on environmental education in which she realized healing the earth means also healing ourselves. This led her to study ecological design and yoga at Naropa University in Boulder, CO. Over the last decade she’s worked on various sustainable agriculture projects with a focus on human-scale vegetable farming/gardening, education, and perennial gardens. She’s also been a prolific yoga teacher, leading mindful living retreats, classes, and workshops through Sarah Living Yoga.

Our Story

Jason and Sarah met over eleven years ago in the farming community in Boulder, CO. They became good friends and bonded over their love of the Earth. After a couple of years of working in a greenhouse together, they fell in love. They share a deep bond that’s glued together by their meditation practice and ecological lifestyle. They’re committed to living a regenerative life that is in harmony with the natural rhythms of the Earth. They’re excited to start this next chapter of building a straw bale home, starting their farm, and cultivating a life-long relationship with their land.
